Who we are. |
North Carolina's Democratic Party Native American Caucus was formed to reach out and bring into the Democratic Party interested registered Democrats who support the goals and objectives of inclusion, political education, voter training, outreach, legislative tracking, research, and participation in the official Democratic Party for all people. The Caucus was formed with particular focus on including the Native American communities across the state in the furtherance of Democratic ideals, issues, and political participation.
Further, the Native American Caucus will work to increase educational, economic, and social opportunities while preserving cultural heritage of the county’s minority populations. |
cont'To realize these goals, Caucus members will provide assistance in introducing and joining together members of local Democratic Clubs, Assembly Precincts, and County Committees with interested individuals and groups from the NC Indian Nations and coordinate with the local Native American communities both on and off reservations, and in the community for the purpose of active participation, without discrimination, within the NC Democratic Party and in accordance with the rules of the State party.

Established in 2018
The Native American Caucus of the North Carolina Democratic Party was formed on January 26th in Charlotte, North Carolina at Mallard Creek High School. Five Native American Citizens from Alamance County met together to discuss how to proceed and bring more American Indian members into politics. After this meeting was called to order, a motion was unanimously passed by all present to form an Native American Caucus. The State Executive Committee adopted a resolution to recognize the creation of this caucus, as an official organization, and the Native American Caucus of the North Carolina Democratic Party was chartered by the SEC at that State meeting as an official auxiliary of the North Carolina Democratic Party.
